Carbon Neutral Solutions

Asymmetry has taken advantage of the fact that it's solutions were already highly energy efficient and considering the virtual nature of our business we have signed up with the Carbon Neutral foundation to offset the Co2 produced by our servers and business activities. This means that if you use us for your internet solutions then that aspect of your business is carbon neutral too.

Furthermore we believe that being a Carbon Neutral is only an interim measure and we are currently investigating server farms powered by renewable energy sources and aim to offer this as an option to our web hosted customers too.

Common Sense Co2 Reducing Measures

We have also implemented basic common sense carbon reducing measures across the following areas:

Travel - maximise working at home time, travel on foot or by public transport to client meetings, and to only travel by diesel car if absolutely necessary.

Communications - maximise ecommunication techniques to avoid travel if suitable, to email documents when possible and to avoid printing out e communications.

Equipment - minimise energy usage by using energy efficient hardware and software, to switch off hardware and peripherals when possible.

Efficient Systems Development - Open source code maximises your bang-for-buck which means that your solution will require fewer servers and those servers will be running using less energy than Microsoft based solutions. We build using technologies which minimise bandwidth usage and reduce spam both of which contribute to energy usage online.

Future Plans - To host web sites using server farms powered by renewable energy sources, to run the office using alternative energy supplies, and to source carbon neutral suppliers.
